TEACHER INFORMATION DAVID GILLIS HAS BEEN A STUDENT OF YOGA FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS AND EXPERIENCED THE DEVELOPMENT HIS OF YOGA THROUGH THE TEACHINGS OF MANY GIFTED PRACTITIONERS. (ALL DAVID'S CLASSES ARE FREE) LISA LONG BEGAN AN INTENT PRACTICE OF YOGA IN 2000, AND OVER THAT FIRST YEAR PRACTICED A VARIETY OF STYLES. ON ONE FAVORABLE DAY, SHE FOUND A LOCAL ASHTANGA STUDIO WITH TWO TEACHERS WHO PRESENTED THE ASANA PRACTICE WITH CLARITY AND ENTHUSIASM. LISA HAS BEEN PRACTICING ASHTANGA EVER SINCE, AND HAS BEEN BLESSED TO STUDY WITH MANY GREAT TEACHERS, INCLUDING ROSSELLA ROSSI, ANDREW EPPLER, EDDIE MODESTINI, NICKI DOANE, DAVID WILLIAMS, AND DAVID SWENSON. SHE IS PLEASED TO HAVE RECENTLY COMPLETED 100 HOURS' INTENSIVE TRAINING IN ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA, WITH TIM MILLER. SHE LOOKS FORWARD TO CONTINUED STUDIES WITH TIM AND WILL BE MAKING PERIODIC VISITS TO ENCINITAS. LISA HAS TAUGHT IN THE CORPORATE FITNESS SETTING AND HAS ALSO OFFERED PRIVATE YOGA SESSIONS. SHE NOW FOCUSES HER TEACHING EFFORTS AT VARIOUS STUDIOS IN THE GROWING YOGA COMMUNITY. SHE ENJOYS A DAILY ASHTANGA PRACTICE OF THE PRIMARY SERIES (ILLNESS PURIFICATION OR YOGA THERAPY) AND THE INTERMEDIATE SERIES ( NERVE PURIFICATION). LISA BELIEVES THE "PRESCRIBED METHOD" IS VERY MUCH EXPLORING TO DISCOVER NOT ONLY ITS PHYSICAL BENEFITS, BUT ALSO ITS MORE SUBTLE AND TRANSFORMATIVE ASPECTS. RUTH LUNA HAS BEEN A STUDENT OF YOGA SINCE THE 70'S AND HAS BEEN A HATHA YOGA INSTRUCTOR FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS SINCE SHE RETIRED AFTER 32 YEARS AS A PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATOR. HER YOGA HAS BEEN INFLUENCED BY THE TEACHINGS OF SRI SWAMI SATCHIDANANDA'S INTEGRAL YOGA. SHE HAS BEEN A FITNESS INSTRUCTOR IN SAN ANTONIO HEALTH CLUBS SINCE 1984. CURRENTLY SHE IS AN ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR OF YOGA AND AEROBICS IN THE KINESIOLOGY DEPARTMENT AT NORTHWEST VISTA COLLEGE. RUTH LOVINGLY AND BLISSFULLY TEACHES A GENTLE, MEDITATIVE, STRESS RELIEVING HATHA YOGA CLASS. KAYE KLIER IS A COMMITTED PRACTITIONER OF IYENGAR YOGA. SHE HAS BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE STUDIED WITH THE VERY BEST IYENGAR-BASED YOGA TEACHERS IN AUSTIN, STARTING WITH BEKIR ALGAN, AND TAKEN CLASSES FROM PEGGY KELLY AND DEVON DEDERICH. SHE WORKS AT DEEPENING HER KNOWLEDGE OF YOGA THROUGH HER PRACTICE AND ATTENDING CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS. HER MAIN SENIOR IYENGAR TEACHERS ARE GABRIELLA GIUBLIARO AND RAMANAND PATEL. IYENGAR YOGA IS A VIGOROUS PRACTICE, WHICH BUILDS STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY, AND BALANCE BENEFITING THE BODY'S CARDIOVASCULAR, DIGESTIVE, NERVOUS, AND IMMUNE SYSTEMS.
